The Andrew McMorris Foundation is proud to announce the winners of its 2021 scholarships, grants, and spirit awards.

John and Alisa McMorris penned a Letter to the Editor in the Riverhead News Review on July 15, to advocate for the Senate RIDE and House HALT acts that will end drunk and impaired driving.

After months of planning and fundraising, the Suffolk County Council of Boy Scouts hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 12 for the new McMorris Lodge at Baiting Hollow to honor Andrew McMorris.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation is excited to announce new Fine Arts, Scouting and Aerocamp Grants for 2021. Andrew was a multitalented young man, but his biggest passions were art, music, dancing, theater, Boy Scouts, and aviation. The Andrew McMorris Foundation created these grants to help young people pursue their dreams like Andrew fearlessly pursued his.

Andrew was an exceptionally talented artist and renaissance man. His two favorite sayings were, “A real artist is never done” when he was creating in art class, and “I love to create together.” In the spirit of both those “Andrew-isms,” The Andrew McMorris Foundation is excited to announce our first “Finish the Painting Fundraiser” on Friday, April 9.

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day and Andrew’s birthday, the Andrew McMorris Foundation has released “Cut Short,” its latest Public Service Announcement to help prevent drunk driving. This PSA was directed by David Lopez and produced by David Lopez, the Andrew McMorris Foundation, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation is currently lobbying Congress to pass the Reduce Impaired Driving for Everyone Act of 2019 (RIDE Act - S. 2604 of 2019). The federal legislation calls for the Department of Transportation to issue a rulemaking to equip all new cars with advanced alcohol detection technology that would passively detect whether the driver is drunk. This has the potential to eliminate drunk driving in America.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation Scholarship was created to honor the memory of a very special twelve-year-old boy who was tragically killed by a drunk driver while hiking with his Boy Scout troop in the fall of 2018. We’re excited to share our 2021 Scholarship applications - the deadline to apply is March 30, 2021/

The Andrew McMorris is proud to announce its Holiday 2020 Public Service Announcement, Some of the most dangerous days of the year on our nation’s roadways are between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. Be safe this holiday season and celebrate by hearing sleigh bells, not sirens.

Thank you to everyone who helped support the Walk to the Lodge 2020. Donna Lillie, with the Boy Scout's Suffolk County Council, says the money raised is going toward a much-needed lodge at the Baiting Hollow Scout Camp.

Shoreham-Wading River High School junior Jake Field conceived of a thoughtful school community addition for his Eagle Scout service project to mark his final rank in the Boy Scouts. Jake designed and built two benches to honor the memory of former student Andrew McMorris.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation is proud to share the success of its 2nd Annual Gala Benefit. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to be a virtual affair this year, but it was no less successful thanks to our amazing donors, sponsors, volunteers, honorees and partners.

Just hours before Christmas, a community came together to show their love for the McMorris family. A show of Christmas support, more than 300 friends, family members, Scouts and loved ones gathered outside the home of Alisa and John McMorris and their daughter Arianna McMorris for caroling Sunday night.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation was honored today to go with MADD NY to ring the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange. We are so thankful for the tremendous support MADD has provided us ever since we lost Andrew to a drunk driver and this was such an amazing experience to promote MADD. We will forever be united with MADD to do whatever we can to ensure what happened to us to never happen to anyone else. We look forward to doing a lot of good work in Andrew’s name with MADD in the future.
