“Walking on that stage, receiving the diploma, was an experience that I can hardly put into words,” Alisa McMorris said. “If there were any doubts, it washed away ... when they called Andrew’s name and the entire school began to clap and stand almost instantaneously.”

On Behalf of MADD NY, NJ, PENN and The Andrew McMorris Foundation, Alisa McMorris Met with Senator Jack Martins to discuss legislative priorities and ways we can spread awareness. Our goals are to work together to create a world of No More Victims.

Andrew's death rocked the community — and the many who loved him will never forget. The school district has decided to Andrew with a posthumous diploma, his mother, Alisa McMorris, told Patch.

In New York state drunk driving fatalities have increased 45% since 2019. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) would like to thank Rep. Andrew Garbarino for his commitment to implementing the HALT Act and ending impaired driving. Victim Advocate Alisa McMorris presented the Congressman with a MADD Hero Award.

Ms. McMorris said last week’s deeply emotional graduation ceremony — at which the school presented the McMorris family with Andrew’s diploma — was “the culmination of all of us carrying this together.”

While his classmates wore caps and gowns during graduation rehearsal Thursday, a photo of 12-year-old Andrew McMorris, frozen in time, joined the Class of 2024.

Andrew, who was killed in 2018 by a drunken driver while hiking with his Boy Scout troop in Manorville, had so many moments stolen from him: Christmases, birthdays, going to college.

But his parents, Alisa and John McMorris, of Wading River, vowed they would not miss out on his high school graduation. On Friday night, they accepted his posthumous diploma at Shoreham-Wading River High School as his name is read with his class.

McMorris had dreams of becoming a pilot. His parents, John and Alisa, held back tears as they walked on the graduation stage.

This checkpoint was dedicated in Memory of Andrew McMorris who was killed due to the actions of a drunk driver. As we progress into the holiday weekend, we must remember to make a plan especially if plans include alcohol.
