MADD Press Conference to Promote NY State Lowering the Blood Alcohol Content | May 2019

“We were in NYC for a press conference with MADD NY to promote NYS lowering the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) down to .05%. There is a bill going to the NY Senate and Assembly to change the law from .08% to .05% and the press conference will help support this common-sense bill in order to save thousands of lives.

At the press conference, we were honored to be there with NY Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, MADD National President Helen Witty, National Transportation Safety Board member Jennifer Homendy, Senior Director of Advocacy and Communications for the National Safety Council Tara Gill, VP of Advocacy and Communications for the National Safety Council Kelly Nantel, and Marcus Kowal of Liam’s Life Foundation. Alisa and I spoke, but we are immensely proud that Arianna shared her findings of her AP Seminar research paper of why NYS should change the BAC from .08% to .05%.

We hope and pray that this bill gets passed in NYS, then all around the country. Drunk driving is a violent and preventable crime that claims too many lives. If the laws change, thousands of lives will be saved. Thank you MADD NY for including us in this press conference. We will make a change and do all of this in Andrew’s honor and all of those whose lives have been affected by drunk driving.”
